In 1991 InterContinental Hotels Corporation issued a groundbreaking environmental manual, recognizing "... its moral and ethical responsibilities as a global citizen in protecting the environment for this and future generations...".
Since that time, the Willard InterContinental Hotel has been committed to making sustainability a part of the Willard experience. Our guests, friends, local community and environment will all benefit from this straegy, which takes into consideration the social, environmental and economic impact of all we do.
We are continually working to make the Willard an inspiring place for both our guests and our staff and consider it our responsibility to take a leadership role in improving our local and global community. We are commited to reducing our impact on the local and global environment through minimizing waste, maximizing efficiency and purchasing goods which do not endanger the world's natural resources, all the while delivering superior value to our guests through the responsible application of natural, technical and human resources, and the pursuit of excellence in all we do.
Our efforts have received much recognition from our guests and the press. The Willard is especially proud of the recognition from the Condé Nast Traveler 2005 Gold List - The World's Best Places to Stay - and Travel + Leisure 500 - The Greatest Hotels in the World - January 2006.
