History Happy Hour: Beyond the Bases - The Origin & Early Days of Baseball

Beyond the Bases: The Origin & Early Day of Baseball
From a Sandlot Game to America's Favorite Pasttime

Jim Hewes, veteran bartender at the Willard InterContinental, and Susan Reyburn, writer-editor at the Library of Congress team up to take you beyond the bases and inside the sport that began as an amateur sandlot game and evolved into America's favorite pasttime.  Join us for an exciting evening of stories on the rich history, culture and tradition of baseball, all while learning how to make a few cocktails inspired by the game.

Guest Speaker:
Susan Reyburn, writer-editor at the Library of Congress and curator of the library's "Baseball Americana" exhibit
